The Jesus Lizard

One of those groups that are so close to Circle 1 for me.  They have a unique sound it being dense, driving, distorted with its own kind of groove.  The guitarist is known for using chords that are not standard in rock.  

And in that they are almost of another quality:  there are almost no songs I don't like from them.  If only I didn't feel like the inner circle wasn't large as it is...
